There are many theories, myths, and misconceptions about consuming dietary fat in order to lose weight.
I am going to cut through the red tape, and give you the skinny on the subject. Back in the days of Atkins, an extreme diet of cheese, meats, lots of unhealthy fats were consumed in order to induce a state of ketosis, therefore creating weight loss. Tens of thousands of individuals lost weight on the 2 week Induction Diet by Dr. Atkins. Some stayed on the induction diet a lot longer than 2 weeks, and continuously lost weight while maintaining a state of ketosis. So, you may say, what’s wrong with this picture?
Atkins, was on the right track, but the use of healthier fats, as opposed to unhealthy fats would be necessary in order to remain in Ketosis, and lose weight with no additional health risks. Also, in order for the body to begin using fats for fuel, there needs to be not only a deficit of glucose but a short fasting period of 6 or 7 hours during the day. A better and more effective approach would be to follow a ketogenic diet. I have recently stumbled upon an approach which is dynamic, and extremely effective in creating health weight loss and boundless energy.
